We stayed for the second time for my wife’s birthday. Had another great stay at Bedford Lodge. The thing that makes it is the staff! From the moment we booked and were in contact with Maria about an extra bed for our son, to the maid bringing my wife some instant coffee from the staff room because that is her preference (I love the coffee cafetière provided!!). Nicola at breakfast was exceptional! Every time we have stayed, she has struck up such a report with our son that he had to give her a hug before he would leave. Again, nothing is too much to ask for - exceptional service. Thanks too all, and I think a stay at Bedford Lodge will have to become an annual staple!
The room was lovely and clean whilst the bed was very comfortable. A little outdated and simple for the price but not too significant. The restaurant had great choices and the food and service was wonderful. The only downside was that it felt like there was a few too many tables in there which meant it felt a bit cramped. The reason why my review is 4 stars is due to the drinks we had in the bar afterwards. As we went into the bar it seemed like the barman was finishing for the night and a waitress was covering the last few hours. The waitress only had to look after 3 tables so the bar was quite quiet yet her service was so poor. I was sat for 15 minutes at a time with an empty glass and trying to get the waitress’ attention but to no success. She was behind the bar polishing glasses and folding napkins. When I did call for her attention she leaned over the bar, asking for what I wanted and then passed the drink over the bar to us. I would have preferred for her to come up to our table, take the order and bring the drink over. The cheek of then adding a service charge onto the bill, when the only drinks she made were a simple pour.
Where has this Spa been hiding!! A 1 hour 20min journey from London, and an absolute treat. Sophie was my therapist in the spa both days and I have rarely been more relaxed in my life. 30 min facial and 30min massage. The food in the restaurant was great, and a a la carte breakfast menu is even included!
Very nice room. We'll appointed. Good bar and appeared to be a nice restaurant. Very friendly staff. Breakfast was ok. Better to order items fresh. The pre-cooked fried eggs were hard. Would visit again.
Fantastic hotel with some lovely staff ,the hotel is spotless .We only stayed 1 night as went the races in the day so only had breakfast .Was waiting 10 minutes too be seated which wasn't no big deal but the wait for breakfast after getting our toast straight away was at least 30 minutes so not ideal but probably nitpicking as the hotel is lovely .The bed ,shower and room was on the whole fantastic
A lovely weeks holiday at the Bedford Lodge Hotel, the service and staff were excellent! Just gave a 4 as the room was right next to rooms that were being upgraded, a little noisy at times, the location was out of the town so a 12 minute walk away. The only criticism we had was the coffee in the restaurant was awful so we ordered coffee from the bar, all ok except they charge at weekends which is a bit steep as breakfast is £20 and this was an extra £5.00 each on top! Not the money it’s the principal.
Rooms were generally ok - but they need to improve on house keeping- ran out of toilet roll and the cobwebs in the corners - they could do with with more plug sockets near the bed... But the chocolates upon arrival werea nice touch and so was the nice coffee
Great location, 5/10 minute walk into Newmarket town centre. Plenty of parking, including disabled. The suite was lovely, clean & comfortable. Very nice bathroom toiletries. Gym was good. Lovely breakfast
